Yes Gladiator, and no, I haven't warped back to 2000...but if I did, oh the changes to be made...
Gladiator, one of my all-time favorites, has been resurrected in the form of an oh-so-popular Extended Edition DVD which are now the hottest thing since Peter Jackson's little trilogy popped up in four-disc each collections. The news is good for those starved for some more "Maximus! Maximus!". The original DVD was a bit too skimpy for such a grand and glorious film, and fortuntely the profiteers at DreamWorks thought about that and decided those fanatically swords and sandals fans would pay nicely for a meatier Gladiator - and with Troy and Alexander banishing the epic from screnes for another 60 years - well boy did I buy (~US$25). The film is extended by 17 minutes (he's still dead at the end, for those who wonder) and two accompanying discs are loaded with special features - the best of which, in my opinion, is the lengthy "making of" documentary which squats on the middle disc.
As always, it wasn't a necessary purchase, but there's always that a time when there's something you just can't get enough of.
