Marcus Agrippa,
Greetings, my son! I hear your training excels all in your contubernium! Excellent. I am proud of you, I am certain you do me credit.
The Ninth legion is on its way to Aquileia. I will be in Rome shortly, at which time I have some political errands to take care of. After that, I shall march to join you. There are some vicious rumours circulating all about me. From Brundisium, I hear my cousin Lucius is gearing himself for an invasion. From Rome –somehow the news bypassed me- I hear that Cato is dead?? And Magnus on his deathbed?? What sort of catastrophe could this be, I wonder?
Antonius is yet to issue me any report from Rhodes. Perhaps it is in the coming and I will have better sources soon.
In the meantime, distribute my orders: we have a full legion’s worth of cavalry trained now, in addition to the alae for each legion, and I want yet another legion trained on the horse. I am planning to find out the menace in the forests about the Danube, and I have a new tactic I wish to employ. Let me know if you encounter any trouble.
I will see you soon, my friend.
Si vales valeo,
CAESAR
