After about 90 minutes of work, here is a pic of my first model in Silo. This is not yet complete. I still need to add geometry and tweek the model. The 90 minutes of work is meaningless without the caveat that I spent a good deal of time looking at the hotkey cheatsheet taped to the side of my monitor.
As I get the rythm of the keys and mouse manipulations done to modeling gets much faster. I could re-do this in about 20-30 minutes. Which has more to do with the program than my skill.
I think this is 3D manga, but I am not really sure what manga is...I thought it was a group of mangos...I now refer to this style as BELM...Big Eyes, Little Mouth. This head was modeled using the box modeling technique. I started with a cube and through cutting and point pulling one begins to create a shape. It is much like virtual sculpting...progress from a basic block and slowly add detail to create the final form.
