As far as we know (and no we won't lead an epistemologic discussion here) Socrates lived the normal life of a craftsman of Athens. He stonecutter by profession, married to Xanthippe and served in at least one war.
The curious thing about him is that he sought the discussion with the neighbours. Or, more specifically, the curious thing is that a participant of some discussions ventured to write those down.
