"Brutus, I am sure you did not come all the way from Rome to congratulate me on my dealings with young Pompey or my activity at Issus.
I am leaving the area now and marching to Lycia and from there to Asia Province where I have many things to attend to.
My daughter, as well you must know, is being held prisoner in Rhodes. I should have expected your great love for her to have pushed you to action: either to have raised troops to rescue her, or to have either persuaded or pressured your dear Caesar to demand her release from the Rhodians. You have done nothing; if she is released, as I trust the gods that she will be, it will not be thanks to you, but either to me, her father, or to Pompey the Great who is nothing to her, or even to Mark Antony who is in Rhodes too, although I am not sure what his intentions are.
If you want to stay here, please do. If you want to go back the way you came, please do. If you want to accompany the army back to Asia, you may do so, but please refrain from talking to me or coming into my presence until you have something sensible to say or do."
And with this he shows a very hurt Brutus out.
