    Carcopino's Jules Cesar was first published in 1935. I have the 5th edition, "revised and enlarged with the collaboration of Pierre Grimal", published in 1968 by Presses Universitaires de France.

    It is very interesting and detailed, full of notes and explanations. Carcopino believed that Caesar had always from his early career wanted absolute power, a view with which I don't agree.
