Sir Ronald Syme were still around to slap this crap down.
Then again, he might just as well considered such beneath even mention.
When I read this, I was immediately reminded of the nonsense posted over on Delphi's Roman Piso fora. It is confidently stated there that Tacitus was some nebulous "Royal", deeply involved in the creation of Christianity as a satire/method of control of the populace.
)On another Delphi forum, a few years ago, Roman Piso claimed Syme had "come around" to this whack theaory. Of course, this was all after Syme's death, when he is no longer able to refute such nonsense. Cute.
