    *sigh* I was contacted by a friend, who noted that my Augustus site had vanished; turns out that they had an old e-mail and, when they heard nothing from me, canceled the site. So I happily got it up and running elsewhere.

    I suppose I mention this because I came to have, if not affection, a vast amount of respect for Augustus after doing this web site on him. Until then, Caesar had been splendid; Augustus was just a weazley little guy who calculated. But he was, of course, far, far more than that.
