And I loved P.A.'s notation that Caesar's calendar change was made under political, not priestly, auspices. But isn't it SOOOO typical of Caesar? He sees a problem that's, off and on, been unsolved for 30 years - he has no power to change it as Pontifex other than yet more intercalations - he gets the best advice, lucidly solves the problem pretty much forevermore . . . AND the Senate and Cicero complain!
Poor guy, he could NOT win with that lot.
