The Gallic chiefs agree to the terms set out by Legate M. Aemilius Lepidus and are awaiting him in the agreed place when he arrives.
It is early morning and the heavy fog has yet to burn off the flats of the valley, the surrounding countryside is therefore very difficult to see into for any distance.
The Legate's army, along with it's commander, are some 10 miles west of the meeting in a castra on the southern bank of the river padus near Industria.
Scouts that reconnoitred the area the day before reported that the Rebel army appeared to be camped in and around the city of Taurmenium, mostly to the eastern side.
A further large encampment, that of the Gallic migrants, was sighted just south west of Vercellae.
The land around the city was said to be largely unremarkable with few good defensive features other than the rivers and the odd small hill that might accommodate a cohort or two, the bottom line is that this is excellent terrain for any army, defensive advantage will have to be deployment based rather than terrain based.
This morning however the fogs is thick and no update has been possible.
Meanwhile back at the meeting site, the two chiefs and their 10 man escorts greet the Roman in a friendly manner.
"Greetings, friend, what do you wish to discuss today?"
