I was explaining Alesia to a friend the other night (weird, I know, but hey?!) - and I realized that, in my own mind, it is simply the greatest use of resources and technology I know if in any battle Rome ever fought.
Can anyone who knows more than I do about Roman history, top it? If so, I'd love to hear! Only Masada comes close, and THAT was against women and children as well as men - and a helluva fewer number as well.
My friend's reaction was - "how did he DO that???"
Do we vote this not only Caesar's triumph, but Rome's?
