for finding the words to express exactly what my opinion is on that subject. Somehow, I feel like putting people against each other for something like organizing Springfest is detrimental for the collaboration on this site. I don't think the comparison between Best of Fests and grades is relevant. Grades are about judging one's work on a given scale of excellence. Which means you can have several As, several Bs, etc Best of Fest is about comparing people's achievements, therefore stating that one is necessarily the best, and those who have not been chosen are *not as good* as those who have been acknowledged with a prize. Of course, you could also tell me that Best Homes is all about comparison as well, but as Diantha pointed out, in Best Homes, you *choose* to be compared with other, therefore, by signing up, you agree with that system. On the other hand, as a scribe, you have to work on SF, and are automatically part of the Best of Fest, even if you don't want to, or don't care for it.
But my biggest fear with the 'Best of Fest' award is the competition that it might create between the worlds where, imo, only collaboration should be encouraged. Hopefully, it actually will be if we effectively organize two 'fests' with four worlds each ;-)
