I am Julia Drusilla, daughter of Germanicus and Agrippina. I have two sisters and five brothers. I was born in Ambitarvium, year 16 AD. From the Emperor Augustus, my grandfather, I inherited ambition and sensuality, but managed to avoid the family affliction of epilepsy and stuttering.

My claim to fame begins with the unceremonious debut of being caught in bed with my brother Gaius Caligula. Neither of us was of age if there is an accepted age for people like us. My famous father and mother, Germanicus and Agrippina the Elder (be sure to capitalize that E), and all my brothers (except Little Boots) were either killed or starved to death by order of the suspicious and paranoid Emperor Tiberius, ably abetted by his ambitious Praetorian Prefect, Sejanus.

During my adolescence, I was virtually a free spirit. No one paid attention to me except for Gaius. I was in my youth when Tiberius withdrew from active government and retreated to the island of Capri where my dearest brother, Caligula, kept him company. At least that’s what I heard.

Prematurely, like most Roman girls of nobility, I was married. My first husband turned out to be Lucius Cassius Longinus. We never really knew each other. It was my brother, Gaius, who convinced me to divorce poor Cassius. I must say, I didn’t argue against it. Lately I’ve had my eye on Marcus Aemilius Lepidus. I’ve heard he’s been intimate with my sisters. Who cares. When he comes to me, and he will, mark my words, dear reader, it will be because he knows I am above them all.
