Cochar Cruibne's Challenge

Scathach looked over her newest pupils and praised them, saying they had already received a warrior's training and more. She invited them to be her honored guests at the Beltaine feis and asked her daughter and sons to be their hosts. That evening Uathach tended to them at the meal, and brought them bread and meat and heather mead. She pretended to be a servant, and flirted and aroused the men, while Cuar and Cat sat the woman between them and flirted with her.

ne of the warriors became so aroused he caught hold of Uatach and held her close, but accidentally hurt her finger, and she cried out.* Everyone heard the cry, but only one stepped forward to protect her honor. This one was Cochar Cruibne, Scathach's champion, the one who currently held the School's most esteemed title of War Hound. He was also the annoying hot-head who had boasted and bragged the loudest and claimed the hero's portion for himself. Fearing for the life of her guest, Uatach tried to calm the haughty hero's ire. She only succeeded in spurring him to further exaggerate the crime, for he was seething with jealousy over the favors she had already shown this unworthy churl, who was obviously beneath his status.

Cochar Cruibne would not back down.

* Note: In Valeria's story, the female warrior took pity on Uatach and offered to help her carry a heavy platter. In her enthusiasm she accidentally hurt Uatach's finger, prompting Cochar Cruibne to challenge her.

HIRD CHALLENGE: You are the warrior who hurt Uatach's finger and must meet Cochar Cruibne's challenge. There is one small catch. He is no ordinary man, but invincible, and like the heroes of legend - Lleu of the Mabinogi, Achilles and Samson, to name a few - has but one weakness. You must find his weakness and bring the champion to his knees. The stakes are high, for only one among you will be chosen to win the title "War Hound" and the coveted prize of Scathach's War School.

Hint: The sky's the limit. There are no hidden clues. In this challenge you are invited to tell a clever tale about Cochar Cruibne's one weakness.
