The Monarchy
THE MONARCHY
Test your knowledge of the legendary kings of Rome.

Rome was allegedly founded by Romulus on April 21, 753 BC, a traditional date accepted by ancient historians, but for which there is no certain evidence. According to legend, Romulus was the descendant of the Trojan hero Aeneas and killed his twin brother, Remus, in a quarrel over the founding of the city. Likely there were many more kings in early Rome than the seven legendary ones. The position of king was held by men of Sabine, Latin, and Etruscan extraction, and it was not hereditary. |
