    Paneion,
I highly recommend Matthew Amt's hoplite website - mostly because you can see my Spartan aspis, linothorax, xiphos(Manning Imp), spear, kothon and water flask on it *LOL*
Seriously, the aspis and linothorax can be constructed by anyone with resonable skill and patience. I have just returned from a trip to Greece and had time to study the remains of several aspides, helmets and swords and will try to put together some pics, diagrams and measurements. The one thing I did notice is that the shields DO NOT seem to be very deep. Two of the examples had suffered damage (crushed) but three others and a life size grave stele show the shields at being not more than a couple of inches deep. I'll have exact measurements once I have time to go through my notes...
