Halloween was shot in under a month for less than 500,000 dollars. It went on to gross a gazillion dollars and set "Independent Film" on its course. It is no wonder that two of the biggest Independent successes of all time are this one and Night of the Living Dead.
Plus, what Halloween did was it essentially killed the Sexual Revolution of the late 60s and 70s. You have pre-marital relations, you die. Oh, I am sure many a school girl thought twice on prom night after seeing ol' Mikey run rampant.
Carpenter, went on to inspire directors like M. Night "I See Dead People" - directors who do it all, including writing the musical score.
I will speak of Carpenter at a later date, as he is a personal favorite, but again I wanted to step in and support one of my favorite genres...

Dr. Sam Loomis: You've got to believe me, Officer, he is coming to Haddonfield... Because I know him - I'm his doctor! You must be ready for him... If you don't, it's your funeral!
