February, 2005 I'm certain that the use of the name, Eurydike is so popular because it neatly avoids confusion with Cleopatra, Philip's daughter. It was certainly Philip's intention to honor Eurydike above Olympias. He did not have power over the succession, but he did have influence; he was attempting to use it.
