No, I cannot agree with that theory the Lost vikings
For one thing, at the time of Eric the Red, there was no knowledge of the East beyond the confines of Europe and the steppes of Russia. And my main objection is that to make the "island" fit, you have to flip it over and move it c. 3,000 miles away on the far side of N. America! Preposterous. If Vikings were willing to sail all around the tip of S. America and up the west coast to Vancouver island, we would find some evidence of their landings in the lore of the indians of MesoAmerica, surely. And to assume that they sailed around Alaska and down the west coast is equally unbelievable: no ship could survive that hostile voyage. There are no Viking remains in Vancouver: but we do have Norse settlement remains on the east coast of Newfoundland, whose inlets seem to match those on the Vinland island map rather well. The "island" is in fact only the northeastern coastal area of greater Canada, truncated in the same way that Africa is. I think the map is a fraud, personally. That's my present opinion.
