To the Senate,
What can I say? It saddens me to see this Senate devolve to such a state. I am dismayed by the personal feuding of two otherwise noble Tribunes, the backstabbing and accusations levied by certain members of this "august" body.
Tribunes, both of you, let this pass. It pains me to see my friends destroy each other in such a way. I absolutely forbid this mutual self-destruction. For Pete's sake, would you two just look at what you're doing to Rome?
By the Gods, I've got a war on my hands. A real crisis. Not some made-up-crisis that this Senate seems to be harking about. I've already lost a city. I'll at least loose another one if the Gods don't smile pretty soon.
Senators, I HAVE to get legions to Narbonensis. Immediately. Regardless of the current veto on all lexes, I am proposing the folllowing Lex Oppia TArraconensis Militarus:
That the legions,
X Legio Roma (Narbonensis)
XII Legio Roma (Narbonensis)
XXIV Legio Italia (Baetica)
be re-assigned to Tarraconensis.
I hope these Tribunes will come to their senses, and see beyond the beyond the Italian Peninsula, before its too late and all is lost.
Praetor of Tarraconensis,
Marcus Oppius Phillipus
