Gaius Agrippa addresses the reconvened Senate:
"It is in the same perspective of love and service for the republic that I must now propose a Senatus Consultum, and beg the Senate to look favourably on it. It is a request to have the quaestorship of Lucius Julius Caesar extended for another year so he can serve Rome in Macedonia.
Here it is (and I hope it is sufficiently clear to please the more exacting):
Considering that the province of Macedonia and Achaea is of strategic importance in the eastern Mediterranean, more so now that there is turmoil in Illium;
Considering that the defence of that province should be high in our priorities;
Considering that Lucius Julius Caesar has proved to be a capable military organiser and to have a good grasp of military and political matters in the region;
Considering that the governor of the province, Aulius Lupus Titus Augur is now in Rome to run for the consulship and has entrusted the province to Lucius Caesar as an able officer;
Considering that the next governor of the province will probably not be able to be in place before spring, and will then need an adjustment period;
The Senate decrees, in the best interest of Rome and of the province of Macedonia and Achaea, that Lucius Julius Caesar's quaestorship be extended for one year in that province."
