King Thetmar ruled in Bern. He was a powerful, generous, kind man, and his wife was both fair and wise. They had one son called Thidrek. He grew up strong and healthy, with bold eyes and long golden curls. He never grew a beard, not even when he was older. He had wide shoulders and sinewy arms: he was so strong that few could be his peers, though he was slender in the waist and fine-boned. He had a glad, gentle and friendly disposition, and spared no gold nor silver. If he was drawn to anger, however, flames erupted from his mouth

This is the traditional description of Thidrek-Dietrich von Bern (amateurishly translated and put together by me). To celebrate the rebirth of the Sun God for Yule, since last time in the Ragnarok we had Balder already, I issue a challenge to you all: finding a new avatar for me that fits the above sun-god-like description!

    The rules:

    1. From December 17th to January 5th at noon, you shall post the avatars here at the Red Boar in your posts. Remember to click the HTML tab in the "Body of Message" box. You can upload the image at your home and post it in the usual way (bars bars image ***** bars bars) or link to it with the code < a href="url of the image" >. (spaces before and after < > added to avoid confusion.) In this case, remember that it is discouraged to direct-link to others' images, as it steals bandwidth and images could disappear!
    An example for each instance:

    2. Everybody can post as many avatars as desired, and everybody can vote for as many as desired. There will be a People's Prize for the avatar that gets the most votes. Then there could be a Thidrek's Prize for the avatar that I like best, which could be the same... or not... or there might be even more prizes, depending on how many plaques Aelfwine feels like making!

    3. For each image, add if possible the name of the artist, the URL of provenience and all pertinent notes. Copyright infringements are always a tricky concept but let's try to be as correct as possible.

    4. Lastly, a big thanks to Amalasuntha that lets us hold this madness here. In her honour, dear knights and ladies, consume as much mead as possible and have fun with this contest!
