All day long Ursus and Marsius reviewed the years campaign against the pirates. Both agreed that although weakened the treat was far from over. At least they managed to scare them off from this part of the world.
They both looked out towards the rolling hill overlooking the sea where the skeletal remains of some pirates where still nailed to their crosses. "they'll be back and if by next year we do not get more ships they will stay a plague untill the end of times. If I make it to the curule chair in the senate Ursus I pledge those ships will become available. They could equip Pompeius with them, they can equip next year commander as well!"
Seeing Ursus out Marsius looked up Porcia and the children.
"How was you day dear?" he asked.
"Oh not too bad. Did your meeting go well with Ursus?".
"we agreed upon everything and decided that given the means we have we accomplished the maximum. So overall a good year although a frustrating one."
"We could go for a ride if you want".
"You sure you want to brave the cold seawind this time of year?"
"Afraid of the cold pro-praetor? I sure am not".
"Lucius!! Saddle our horses at once!"
Hand in hand Marsius and Porcia made their way to the stables.
"Oh by the way I received word that our gladiator Bubonicus is performing well...I think I owe him some kind of reward...a girl maybe?".
