Aifa It had been a long and arduous journey yet I was glad I had gone to be with Bricriu when he needed me.
I had parted with Coll at a hill fort some way back where I had traded the horse provided for my journey for a more suitable pack horse and some supplies.
It was good to stretch my legs and walk with Cliste as I led the pack horse.
I hoped the residents of the grove wouldn't mind me cutting through here. The surroundings had a calming and peaceful effect on me and I let my weary mind drift.
I almost fell over Cliste when he suddenly stopped. Regaining my footing and balance I looked in the same direction as he.
"What is it fellow?" I asked.
I followed him cautiously then he stopped again, ears forward, tail wagging.
It was then I recognized the female wolf Cliste had encountered at the market. She turned her head toward us and sniffed the air then returned her attention to a large form on the ground. It had to be the smithy Drystan and I had met at the market. Or else the great wolf had done harm to someone. I doubted the latter but someone had done something! I dropped the lead of the pack horse, handed my sword and slowly approached the still form.
