On the morning of September 28, 2004, we docked at the city of Wushan where we boarded a small ferry for a 45 minute trip to a landing area of the Shennong stream.

This is the ferry that would carry us to the Shennong Stream landing.

At the landing Ginger is helped aboard one of the small boats which the Chinese call "pea pods" because of their appearance.

And we're off on our journey

We pass some fishermen. They fish with nets.

As we near the end of our journey, we enter some very shallow and rough water.

The water becomes too shallow to row so the crew jumps out and begins towing the boat from the shore. Before this excursion became popular, the crew would strip naked to tow the boat but they are now requied to wear at least a bathing suit. Sorry, Leah!

After leaving the shallows we entered a large basin and turned around for our trip back to our ship to continue our journey throught the Three Gorges.
