You remember the song “A Slow Boat to China”? Well the overnight train from Beijing to Xi’an is just the opposite. It covers the 1200 kilometers(720 miles)non-stop in 11 ˝ hours! We boarded at the Beijing train station at 8:30 PM and arrived at Xi’an at about 8 AM. It’s Train number Z19/20 and is the result of the fifth national speed-up of trains from April 18, 2004.
