After the Norman Conquest of England, there were no more recorded battles from outside Viking invaders. In that sense, the Normans were the last Viking invaders of England, and the battle of Hastings was the last Viking invaders battle; after that, the Normans were defending their newly acquired turf.
The best original source for studying the battle of Hastings is the Bayeux Tapestry.
I just purchased a no-ads ("Neon") account for my Bayeux Tapestry site at Angelfire (I am employed again and can afford the monthly $4.95 to get rid of the annoying ads, and more bandwidth).
