    This may be complacating things a bit more but the sword of Rome, Claudius Marcellus is meant to have been of a plebian family despite the family name.

    Does anyone know where his family came from or if they were the descendants of freed slaves or some thing else to get the extremely aristocratic and patrician Claudian name?
