Drav, I like your thought. Indeed Feanor does not lack character or personality like probably the rest of the Elves. ;-)

He was one of the first to break the chains placed by the Valars on his forefathers,that is "come to Valinor and be safe from harm done by Melkor". While Eru gave birthto them in ME in the first place, so in my opinion, the Valars were in no right to refrain the Elves from going back to their birthland. What I also like about Feanor is that he had the strength to speak up to the Valars and change the perception of creating art as a gift for the Valars, to create it for their own improvement. The idea changes from a theocentric point of view to a more Men in this case Children of Ilúvatar as centre of the Universe. No glorification of the Gods, but of Human/Elfkind.
