The original (pbs) adaptation was my introduction to Masterpiece Theater. It was years ago that I saw it. Yes, I do agree with all that has been said. Have been hopeing they would show the old black & white version, and have requested it.

Was very fortunate to be able to view the new version all in one sitting. I think this makes it better. It was so many years ago that I had read the entire series; the redo did not bother me. I do not think I would care to reread that entire saga again. I was completely enthalled with, it after seeing the televised dramas.

I do not think that a colorized edition of the 60's series would be as good. Some things work better in black and white.

Perhaps they did a remake because so many of the original cast had departed. They wanted to make something for a new generation. I enjoyed the old 40's movie 'That Forsythe Woman' and the recent redo. The 60's version is tops. It is my favorite thing on TV ever. Still, this does not prevent me from enjoying other versions.
