    ...and this question may already have been raised but if there was no civil war in 49BC then surely Caesar would not have been a candidate for any Parthian campaign, or are we to believe that if Caesar backed down on the Rubicon then his enemies in the Senate would have forgiven his past transgressions and not brought him to trial?
