Part III:
The Jubilant Rebirth of Osiris
(Wesir)
So
the statue of Osiris is brought fourth in grand procession throughout
Abydos.
Worshippers line his path, but can not see him-- He is concealed
behind veils and covered in feathers.
The Netjer's image is then
brought out into the desert, to his tomb in Pokir. This year,
the temple priests have agreed to also carry him aboard The
Golden Phoenix, which shall represent his barque, and on to
Thebes.
A great midnight feast is held, which lasts throughout the night,
representing The Night Vigil.. a most secretive part of the
festival.
It is with great joy that
I witness the presence of so many beautiful ladies, all dressed
in their finest, in celebration of Osiris! By aptly calling
them sisters, Kismet has transformed her companions into the
embodiment of the sisters, Aset and Nebet-Het!
After the enemies of Osiris
are slaughtered (all along the banks of the Nile), the crown
of Justification is placed upon him, and Osiris is transfigured.
Set, his enemy, is then held for trial before the Divine
Tribunal.
After stopping at Thebes
for presentation to the female King Hatshepsut,
the Golden Phoenix reverses direction, to return Osiris to his
place in Abydos.
As Re rises, the living Osiris is brought back into his temple
to be crowned with justice-- Ma'at.
The priests then take their leave of us, to carry out private
purification rituals.
The Phoenix then continues
down the Nile, once again passing Giza, before turning starboard
at the grand
canal near Heliopolis,
and on into the Red Sea. She sails back to the Great Green Sea,
and north, to Athens....
