"He definitely wants to find out more about Germanicus," Ea reported. She currently stood in Drusilla's study. The basket of herbs that was Ea's pretense for coming had been deposited carelessly on the floor. "So far he's trying Flora for information. So far she's only told him about Felix's military success."
"Yes, go on," Drusilla prompted impatiently.
"Glaucus met a man in a tavern last night. They were discussing someone who 'wouldn't pay' because he thought that his reputation would keep him from harm. They were planning to make him commit treason against the Emperor, or to make it look like he did. Maybe they're all in a plot together and they're going to reveal the man who won't pay."
"And who was Glaucus talking to?"
"I couldn't see his face, and I did not recognize his voice."
"Go on, then."
Ea continued. "Glaucus's unknown companion has taken care of something. He informed Glaucus that witnesses and documents are ready, and..." she searched her memory for the phrase he had used, "and can be... produced at a moment's notice. Glaucus is paying him for whatever he did. Glaucus said he was counting on the fact that the man who would not pay, would stand up to him. He also said that he had talked with Felix, and that Felix could be useful to them. I'm assuming that they mean to use Felix in their plot to incriminate the nameless Man Who Wouldn't Pay."
Having delivered her report, Ea took a seat and waited for the Lady to draw her own conclusions.
