For those who are interested in learning about the Shoshone tribe, here are some references to get you started.
The tribal website is here: The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes site. Notice that in southeast Idaho, the Shoshone and Bannock tribes have joined together as one entity. These two tribes (as well as a few others whose population is very small) have intermarried to the point that very few members can say they are only Shoshoni OR Bannock. The tribes are located on the Fort Hall reservation in Bannock and Bingham counties, with the city of Fort Hall being the principal tribal government locale.
Books my brother, an archaeologist, suggests are:
The Idaho Indians in Transition 1805-1960 by Sven Liljeblad, 1972. and
Cultural Ecological Patterns of the Eastern Shoshoni by Steven J. Fox, 1976.
Here's the link to the Idaho Museum of Natural History where there are great exhibits and art from the Shoshone and Bannock tribes.
