Scaurus and some of his officers were flipping through the Capua local paper looking for various ways to fill their time.
“Look, we can catch a play at the multiplex,” one said. “Centaur vs. Minotaur is playing. It’s supposed to be action-packed.”
“Ah, it’s overrated,” another commented. “Teisonus the Ethiopian is fighting that guy from the Holy Field in the arena. Now that’s likely to be a good bout!”
“Wasn’t he banned after that ear-eating incident, Mus?” Scaurus interjected. “It might be good to see a play, but something light. Perhaps The Queen’s Journal?”
“I think that’s a women’s play, sir.”
Scaurus turns a page.
“I knew it!” he said. “Elections cancelled on account of dictatorship. I warned people this would happen, but do they listen? Nooo, they go and think I have Ambitions. It’s so depressing.”
”There, there, sir. Drusus can’t be dictator forever. When elections are held six months from now, you’ll still get to be Censor for half a year. Unless the SCU is extended, of course.”
Scaurus sighed.
“Mus, you are a real joy to be around.” The Triumphator shrugged. “Ah well. Here! They’re got Pseudolus – you remember him from Pseudolus? – starring in a remake of Titus Maccius Plautus’ Miles Gloriosus! That I’ve got to see!”
