I came across this list of kniggets on the Winchester Table just the other day, about an hour later came across this thread. :) Anyways... Looking it the list of inscriptions and translations, there seems to be a problem with a translation. Sir Lacotemale Tayle is translated to La Cote Male Taile. OK, makes sense. However near the bottom of the list Sir Brumear is translated as Sir Brunor le Noir. This is a problem, Brunor le Noir is La Cote Male Taile. Three possibilities pop into my head...
First, Brunor was so AWESOME that he commanded two seats. Oo-RAH! If they are on opposite sides of the table then this option probably isn't a valid one. However if they are adjacent Brunor could have a booth or maybe a couch...
Or Sir Brumear is Brunor's father Sir Brunor le Chevalier. This seems unlikely. Why construct a table (even though it's construction postdates the suspected time of both the myth and legend) with two placements for kniggets who were never KotRT at the same time. Brunor's father was murdered long before Brunor became one of Arthur's kniggets.
The third possibility and the one with the greatest probability is that the translator goofed and Sir Brumear is another knigget altogether. Possibly Sir Brumer de la Fontaine? Someone else?
