I awaken to darkness, but know all is right
I sense your presence through all of the night
I see you arise, moving slow and unsure
I go to your side, my love for you is pure
But you push me away, without even a care
But I stay by your side, waiting to you
But you see right through me, as if I’m not even there
I wait ever patient, for your love and your care
As you wash and you clean, I watch with some cheer
Wanting to be with you, wanting to be near
But you walk out the door, not saying goodbye
I go sit by the window, sit and let out a sigh
Sitting all day, I wait with ease
Knowing you’ll come back, it takes so little to please
As the day goes along, I wait and I cry
Then suddenly you come, my heart begins to fly
I rush to your entrance, so happy am I
But all I hear is keep away, it’s been to rough a day
So I sit down and wait, as you sit there and scowl
Tomorrow is yet another day, for you to give me your love.
Such is the life of a dog
