Scandinavia is a description on partly the Scandinavian peninsula (Norway, Sweden and the north-westerly part of Finland), partly Norway, Sweden and Denmark. It is also used (incorrectly) to describe the Nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland ant the Faeroe Islands). The name was first used by Plinius the Elder to describe "a great, rich island", perhaps the Swedish landscape Skåne. Norvegicus Lupus
