I suggest, since this thread has not been active in quite a while, that we read for the next entry in the TLC, James Joyces' spectacular Ulysses. Not only are there ancient references aplenty throughout the novel, but it is a classic novel to boot.

Also, the fact that today is Bloomsday works out nicely as a day to suggest this literary masterpiece.
