Harald,
Thank you - I enjoyed the Cor van den Heuvel quote very much in your post. I find that it captures the things that I have enjoyed most about Haiku.
Most of the translated poems that I have read remind me of paintings: the canvas being how the words are structured, the paint is the application of the traditional subject matter of nature.
Considering these words: concision, perception and awareness is a good goal to apply towards my own writing.
