Quintus pored over maps and plans, inventories and lists. Things that he had only half-looked at before, he studied in intense detail. He had to make sure he knew everything about what he had to do.
First, he had to send out scouts. He knew that Caius Valerius Flaccus had landed with three legions at Lissus. With the harbour at Lissus now destroyed, there was no way out for the Roman forces. What Quintus needed to do was to secure the port of Dyrrachum - but Caius Flaccus might have the lead on the Trojan forces on that score. Well, never mind, what was done was done. Nothing was lost or gained yet, all still lay ahead.
The fleet needed to move away from Lissus and on to Dyrrachum, and he needed to get his forces there as quickly as possible. In the morning they would march on to there, to who knew what? Quintus knew he had to be prepared, but he had almost no time to prepare. There was a short time till dawn. He would have to doze while he could the following day, since now was the time for planning and preparation.
ORDERS
2,000 Light Galatian cavalry are to be sent out as scouts to go eastward to look for the Roman forces, and if possible to assess their numbers and condition. They are not to engage in any combat.
The main army is to break camp at first light and to force march to Dyrrachum. The proximity of the Roman forces will help to decide whether or not they will attempt to gain entry to the city.
The fleet stationed at Lissus will sail to Dyrrachum and blockade the harbour there. Any Republican ships in the harbour are to be destroyed, or taken if possible, and no Republican ship shall be allowed to break the blockade.
OOC - I need to know the exact make-up and location of the forces available to me, and also to the state of the forces of the allies. And I appreciate it's not going to be an easy task for the arbiters. I understand you will be very busy with all of this. And I trust all of the censors here to do their job impartially. Also, I accept whatever fate I am given here, whether that to be to the grave or whatever else.
