Antoninus himself would not be a good judge, for Antoninus himself will not fight on the enemy's terms, nor will he arbitrate such a fight.
Romans fight on their own terms, on the field they choose, at the moment they see fit. Not the other way around.
And they do not negotiate with an enemy in arms.
