    I read and reread the speech, and one of the things that struck me is this: Cicero asserts that Catilina intends to leave Rome and take command of Manlius's troops, and repeatedly wonders why he is unwilling to leave if that's what he's planning. It made me wonder the same thing: if Catilina at that point REALLY meant to stir up a violent revolution, why did he linger in Rome?
