    It was a Greek city and not even considered to be Egyptian. It was called Alexandria By Egypt. It was founded by Greeks and ruled by them until Rome took it. The great library and the musion were conceived by Ptolemy 1 and built and maintained by his successors ( all Greek ). There is still a big Greek population in Alexandria. I think we, in Hellas, should have The Library Of Alexandria; it was Greek.
