    Messiah's Image: A Summary

As I said in the beginning, I've tried to be objective in this study. I have not used any sources outside the Tenach (Biblical Old Testemant) and verifiable history to draw any conclusions. In drawing my conclusions, I've been careful not to do violence to, or change the intended meaning of the Word of the Tenach. In some cases, simple reading comprehension is all I needed, but in others, a deeper grammatical study helped.

The bottom line is that the images I draw of the Biblical Messiah is, for my own purpose, as accurately and objectively done as is within me. It is not an argument for any particular position, just a study of what YHWH has to say about His Chosen One. If one chooses to name another as the Messiah, then that is one's own conclusion. I am not pointing to a particular personna, just His image in the scriptures.

In this study, I've learned that the Messiah will be heir to David's throne, and will establish His kingdom for all eternity. I've seen Him as a healer, shepherd, prophet, king, priest, warrior, commander, teacher, example, and light of salvation to all.

I've seen Him equal and One with the Creator, called His Only Begotten Son. He is parallel to Isaac as a father's sacrifice, except in His case, the sacrifice is not stayed. Through that sacrifice, YHWH Himself cut a blood covenant with all of mankind to forgive rebellion and justify guilt.

I see Him ascending to His Father's Right Hand in victory, with a mission yet incomplete.

Psalm 68:18 "Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them."

Daniel 7:13-14 "I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed."

We haven't seen this kingdom yet, so this is a prophecy yet unfulfilled. But I will finish with this final thought:

Jeremiah 33:20-21 "Thus saith the LORD; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season; [Then] may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers."

If Messiah did not come in the first century, before the "scepter passed from Judah's hand" and assume the seat at His Father's Right Hand, then there is and has been no king on David's throne. If that is true, then YHWH has broken His covenant with David. If that is true, then YHWH is a liar and His Word becomes irrelevant.

Numbers 23:19 "God [is] not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do [it]? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"

I suppose my original advice would do well here. I didn't write The Book, I just read it and try to understand. If there are any questions about what it means, the best source for the answers is the Author, Himself.
