they didn't really find the things that originally belonged to the mythical persons (so there wasn't a label "these Nike boots belong to Heracles" or such), but things of the same kind that "might be" the ... of ...

I've found those in a German book on Greek history, and not on the web, so I'm not sure one can find the answer by googling.
