    Hmmm, interesting post Merlin. At first I thought you meant that there was a new Alfred movie on the way! That would have been great! But I will still have to check that movie out, I have never heard of it.

    The Anglo-Saxons may have used a formation similar to the testudo, but I still do not think that they had the equipment, training, or discipline to move as a group in that formation. Hollywood may have styled it up. When was the movie made?
