New ritual enclosure found on Hill of Tara
    online.ie 05 Sep 2002
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Archaeologists have announced the discovery of a previously unknown ritual enclosure on the Hill of Tara in Co Meath.

The Discovery Programme, an independent archaeological institution, said the sub-circular enclosure, known as a 'ditched pit circle', was found on the top of the hill using geophysical survey equipment.

It is believed to date back as far as 2,500 BC, but further excavation will be needed to confirm an exact date.
