Who is Caesar? He strides as if a giant among men. We are not his subjects. By birthright we are his equals! No man should rise so far above his peers.

Birthright! **humph** He has contempt for the word just as he has contempt for us. We are noble Romans, the decedents and rightful heirs of Romulus. It was by our blood that Rome has survived and become the greatest most powerful city in the world. Yet… who is he? Who is he to discard his heritage in favor of outsiders and barbarians? I tell you brothers, he prefers to be one of them. His clients stretch from Spain to Asia Minor. He purchases them with a gift of citizenship. Filthy foreigners! He has added 300 to the senatorial rolls. All his hand picked creatures. He grows his dignitus by stealing from us. If he continues to dilute the Roman culture, Rome will cease to be Roman.

And that Egyptian harlot! The would be queen over Rome. I know what Cleopatra’s true designs are. The Eastern kingdoms are all the same. In-bred monarchs. She would bring that here. She would have Caesar be king and thereby influence Roman policy. I shall die before I see rule turned over to a barbarian.

The great Marcus Brutus threw off the shackles of cruel Etruscan overlords. Oh where is our Brutus of today? Each day Caesar becomes more powerful as the rule of Rome by Romans dwindles. This giant, my friends, must be chopped off at the knees.

    Lucius Tillius Cimber
