Book culprit number two:

Practical Egyptian Magic, by Murry Hope.

I'm so embarrassed to admit I bought this (years ago, mind you) that it is hidden away where it never sees the light of day.

After mangling the Egyptian religion it dives headfirst into OMG -- UFO's!

The shame! The Shame!
